IIM Nagpur Secures 70 Acres in Pune for New Campus

IIM Nagpur is set to advance its expansion plans with the acquisition of 70 acres of land in Moshi, Pune, granted by the Maharashtra government on a nominal lease. This development marks a significant step towards establishing a full-fledged campus, as stated by Director Dr. Bhimaraya Metri. The new campus is part of a broader five-year strategy aimed at enhancing the institute's national and international presence, with aspirations to rank among the world's top 100 business schools.
The allocation of land in Moshi, recognized as a rapidly growing residential and industrial hub, is pivotal for IIM Nagpur's future. Dr. Metri emphasized that this campus will serve as a foundation for the institute's next phase, which he described as a transition "From India to the World." This expansion is not only about increasing physical space but also about fostering global partnerships and introducing innovative academic programs.
IIM Nagpur's ambitious plans include a focus on manufacturing and emerging industry requirements, with proposed courses in areas such as Industry 4.0, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and IT management. The institute is also looking to introduce an integrated BBA-MBA program and a five-year BTech-MBA collaboration with leading IITs. This educational framework aims to equip students with skills relevant to the evolving job market.
In addition to its academic initiatives, IIM Nagpur is pursuing global partnerships, having already established a collaboration with the University of Lille in France. Dr. Metri outlined the goal of forming partnerships with 20 top universities worldwide over the next five years, facilitating student mobility and dual-degree opportunities. The institute aims to provide students with international exposure and qualifications that are globally recognized.
Looking ahead, IIM Nagpur's Strategic Roadmap for 2026-31 includes not only the establishment of the Pune campus but also a commitment to energy and climate action, with plans to enhance its Executive MBA in Energy Management. The institute aspires to be among the top three institutions in Executive Education in India while contributing to the development of Maharashtra, particularly the Vidarbha region. The Pune campus is envisioned as a crucial element in achieving these ambitious goals, reinforcing IIM Nagpur's commitment to excellence in education and global engagement.
