Nagpur Family Duped of ₹10 Lakh in AIIMS Admission Scam

In a shocking incident in Nagpur, a family has fallen victim to a fraud scheme, losing ₹10 lakh under the false pretense of securing an MBBS admission at a prestigious medical institution, including AIIMS. The alleged perpetrator, Ashish Gosavi, reportedly convinced the family with fabricated documents that he could facilitate their daughter's enrollment.

The victim, Dinesh Thakre, resides in Kalamna and had a daughter who took the NEET-UG examination. On August 1 of the previous year, Gosavi approached the Thakre family, claiming he had the means to guarantee admission to a reputable medical college. He promised that he could secure a seat at AIIMS or other esteemed institutions, which led the family to trust him.

Gosavi collected money from the Thakre family in multiple installments, citing various admission-related expenses, including college fees. In total, the family handed over ₹10 lakh, believing they were investing in their daughter's future education. However, when the promised admission failed to materialize, the family began to seek answers from Gosavi.

Despite repeated inquiries, the accused continued to delay the process, providing various excuses and insisting that the admission was still in progress. As time passed without any resolution, the Thakre family grew suspicious and ultimately reported the matter to the Kalamna Police, suspecting they had been defrauded.

Following the family's complaint, authorities have initiated an investigation against Ashish Gosavi, charging him under relevant legal provisions for cheating. The police are currently examining the alleged fraudulent documents and the financial transactions related to the ₹10 lakh payment, aiming to bring the accused to justice.
