Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced that auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers will be given a year to learn functional Marathi. This decision comes after discussions with driver representatives who expressed concerns about the difficulty of learning the language quickly due to varying educational backgrounds.
During this one-year period, no action will be taken against drivers who do not possess adequate knowledge of Marathi. The government will organize classes and provide study materials to assist drivers in acquiring the necessary language skills, ensuring they can communicate effectively with passengers.
