A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been submitted to the Punjab & Haryana High Court, calling for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into violent disturbances that occurred at Lovely Professional University (LPU) on September 26, 2026. The petition was presented before Chief Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Rohit Kapoor, with a hearing set for the following day.
The violence reportedly began following the circulation of an unverified post on Reddit, which claimed that a female student had been raped on campus and subsequently died by suicide.
