In a recent appearance at the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai, Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma addressed ongoing speculation regarding his potential participation in the 2027 ODI World Cup. When questioned about his future in international cricket, Rohit stated, "October 2027 is far away, we will see about it then," indicating his focus on the present rather than distant events.
Rohit, who has already stepped back from T20 and Test formats, continues to be a pivotal player in ODIs. His recent performances have sparked discussions about his longevity in the sport. Notably, during India's tour of England, there were rumors that his appearance in the third ODI could mark his last for the national team. However, he silenced critics with a remarkable innings of 138 runs off 110 balls, showcasing his enduring skill and competitiveness.
In the three-match ODI series against England, Rohit accumulated 175 runs, averaging 58.33, with a strike rate of 98.31. This year, he has scored 379 runs in nine ODIs, maintaining an impressive average of 42.11 and a strike rate exceeding 99, including one century and one half-century. His consistent performance has kept discussions about his future alive, especially as he prepares for the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies, commencing on September 27.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also attempted to quell rumors about Rohit's retirement. So what more do you want?" Saikia remarked, emphasizing Rohit's significant contributions to the team.
