Polaroid has unveiled its latest camera model, the Mod, aimed at photographers eager to explore analog creativity. This innovative device includes four distinct automatic settings, allowing users to experiment with various photographic techniques. The Mod's design emphasizes ease of use, featuring a dial with five settings: Auto, Split Shot, Motion Freeze, Double Exposure, and Light Painting.
The Auto mode provides a classic Polaroid experience, automatically adjusting exposure settings while also incorporating a compensation dial for added control. The Split Shot mode utilizes an accessory to divide the frame into two halves, enabling the capture of two images in one shot. Photographers can easily switch between the two images by rotating the accessory.
Among the other modes, Motion Freeze stands out by delaying the flash, allowing for motion capture before the flash fires. This technique is particularly effective in low-light conditions, creating dynamic and chaotic effects. Double Exposure allows users to layer two different images into one, blending various subjects or scenes creatively. Light Painting mode encourages users to experiment with long exposures to capture light trails, suggesting the use of sparklers for artistic effects.
Stine Bauer Dahlberg, Chief Product Officer at Polaroid, emphasized that the Mod's design integrates creativity into its functionality. The camera's modes are easily accessible via the dial, promoting immediate experimentation without navigating through complex menus. The Polaroid Mod is priced at $169.99 and is currently available for purchase on Polaroid's official website. It will also be accessible through select retailers in the U.S. starting October 6, with a global rollout expected in early 2027. This launch marks a significant step for Polaroid as it continues to innovate in the analog photography space.
