CISF Personnel Shoots Four Colleagues Dead in Kathua Incident

In a shocking incident in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district, a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel opened fire, resulting in the deaths of four of his colleagues, including an officer. The shooting occurred around 6:40 PM at the CISF unit stationed at the Sewa Power Project in Mashka village, following a heated argument among the personnel.

The victims of this tragic event have been identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub-Inspector Lakshman Singh, Constable Rafiq Ahmed, and Constable Sandeep Kumar. The shooter, identified as Head Constable Avdesh Kumar Singh, reportedly entered the office area and unleashed a barrage of gunfire using his AK-47 rifle, which he was authorized to carry. He had a substantial amount of ammunition, with 150 rounds in his possession at the time of the incident.

Following the shooting, the injured personnel were promptly transported to a hospital operated by NHPC in Himachal Pradesh. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, all four succumbed to their injuries. The incident has raised serious concerns regarding the safety and mental health of personnel within the CISF, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.

Authorities swiftly secured the area and initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Head Constable Avdesh Kumar Singh has been arrested and is currently in police custody as inquiries continue.
