Popo Global, a restaurant company based in Bengaluru, has successfully secured ₹532 crore (approximately $56 million) from Artal Asia, an investment firm. This funding is aimed at bolstering the company’s expansion efforts across India, particularly in its diverse portfolio of food and beverage brands.
Founded in 2017 by brothers Abhijit and Nikhil Gupta, Popo Global initially launched The Pizza Bakery in Bengaluru. Since then, it has broadened its brand offerings to include Paris Panini and Smash Guys. Unlike many competitors that adopt a franchise model, Popo Global maintains direct control over its restaurants, which enables it to ensure consistent quality and operational standards across all outlets.
While specific details of the recent investment transaction were not disclosed, previous reports indicated that Popo Global was in discussions with Invus Group, a global private equity firm, to raise an additional ₹500 crore for a minority stake. This potential deal could value the company between ₹1,100 crore and ₹1,350 crore, reflecting its growth trajectory in the competitive food service market.
In the fiscal year 2025, Popo Global reported revenues of approximately ₹175 crore and achieved profitability, highlighting its successful business model. The recent capital infusion is expected to significantly enhance its capacity for expansion, allowing the company to open new locations and further develop its brand portfolio.
Looking ahead, Popo Global is poised to leverage this investment to accelerate its growth plans. The company aims to increase its presence in both casual dining and quick-service restaurant segments, which are rapidly evolving in the Indian market. Stakeholders will be keenly watching how this funding will translate into tangible growth and brand expansion in the coming years.
