Pune Police Arrest Suspect in Sexual Assault Case of Minor
A 12-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted, leading to the swift arrest of a suspect by Pune authorities.

Pune Police have apprehended a suspect connected to the alleged sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl. The arrest occurred following a report made on September 22, when a doctor, after examining the girl, suspected a case of sexual assault and alerted the authorities.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Chilumula Rajnikant provided details about the case, stating that the mother and daughter were brought to the police station for further questioning after the doctor's report. The police registered a case under Section 74 of the BNS and the POCSO Act, which is designed to protect children from sexual offenses.
The following morning, law enforcement arrested the accused and presented him in court. During the court proceedings, it was confirmed that a medical examination of the victim was necessary. The police promptly arranged for this examination, and three days later, the medical report validated the occurrence of sexual assault.
Rajnikant noted that the accused had a minor case registered against him previously. However, the victim reported that she was threatened by the accused's family after the incident, which contributed to the delay in reporting the crime. The police have reassured the victim of their commitment to a thorough investigation and have emphasized the urgency of the case.
Looking ahead, the police plan to request a fast-track trial to ensure that justice is served swiftly and that the maximum penalty is imposed on the perpetrator. Further updates on the investigation are anticipated as authorities continue to gather evidence and support the victim.
