Honor has officially unveiled its flagship smartphone, the Magic9 Pro Max, which is designed to compete in the high-end Android market. This device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip and boasts an impressive camera setup, including dual 200MP lenses and a 50MP ultrawide camera. The phone also features a robust 8,800mAh battery that supports 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, making it a strong contender for users seeking high performance and longevity.
The camera system is particularly noteworthy, with a 200MP main camera equipped with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor and f/1.6 aperture, alongside an 85mm equivalent telephoto lens capable of 3.7x optical zoom. Both the main and telephoto lenses incorporate advanced gimbal-level image stabilization, enhancing the quality of photos and videos. Additionally, the Magic9 Pro Max leverages a partnership with ARRI, a renowned German camera manufacturer, to provide cinematic video features, including ARRI color profiles and filters that allow users to achieve professional-grade color grading with ease.
In terms of display, the Magic9 Pro Max features a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED screen with a resolution of 1,320 x 2,868 pixels and a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. The display is capable of reaching a peak brightness of 2,000 nits globally and an astonishing 10,000 nits in localized HDR settings, ensuring vibrant visuals even in challenging lighting conditions. The device also includes enhanced display protection with NanoCrystal Shield technology and an anti-reflective coating.
The phone runs on Honor’s MagicOS 11, built on Android 17, and offers IP69K ingress protection, making it resistant to dust and water. The Magic9 Pro Max is available in three colors: Shadow Black, Glacier Silver, and Moss Green. In China, the pricing starts at CNY 6,499 ($968) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, while the top-end model with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage is priced at CNY 8,499 ($1,266). However, Honor has yet to announce details regarding international availability and pricing.
