In a significant initiative to enhance emergency response capabilities, Apollo Hospitals conducted a comprehensive cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training session for 250 police personnel at the Police Barracks in Visakhapatnam on September 29, 2026, coinciding with World Heart Day.
The training program aimed to equip frontline officers with essential lifesaving skills, focusing on the recognition of cardiac emergencies and the timely initiation of CPR. Key figures at the event included Commissioner of Police Shankhabrata Bagchi, Apollo Hospitals COO Krishna Prasad, and senior cardiologist D.K. Barauh, among others, who emphasized the importance of such training in saving lives.
Participants engaged in hands-on training that covered effective chest compressions and the necessary steps to take until professional medical assistance arrives. This practical approach was designed to ensure that police personnel are well-prepared to respond to cardiac emergencies in the community.
To further bolster first-response preparedness, Apollo Hospitals donated 22 CPR training mannequins and first-aid kits to the Police Department. This provision allows officers to regularly practice and refresh their CPR skills, ensuring that they remain ready to act in critical situations.
