Lakshya Raichandani's 210 Sets India U-19 on Course for Victory

In a remarkable display of batting, Lakshya Raichandani scored an unbeaten 210, propelling India Under-19s to a commanding 213-run lead over Australia Under-19s in the first Youth Test held in Rajkot. This impressive innings came on the second day of the match, with India reaching a total of 430 for eight at stumps after Australia was dismissed for 217 in their first innings.

Raichandani, who had previously scored an unbeaten 110 in a Youth ODI against Australia earlier this month, showcased his exceptional form by anchoring the innings after the early dismissal of opener Sagar Virk for just 11 runs. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Raichandani remained steadfast, taking the attack to the Australian bowlers and ensuring that India maintained a strong position in the match.

The 17-year-old's innings featured 20 boundaries and four sixes, highlighting his aggressive yet controlled batting style. He received valuable support from captain Yashbardhan Chauhan, who contributed 54 runs, and Mohit Ulva, who remained not out on 58. Raichandani and Ulva formed a crucial partnership, adding 137 runs for the ninth wicket, while Raichandani had earlier built a solid 124-run partnership with Chauhan for the third wicket.

In the first innings, Australia struggled against India's bowling attack, managing to score only 217 runs. Blake Cattle was the standout performer for Australia, scoring a century with 102 runs. Ishan Om was particularly effective for India, taking five wickets for 53 runs, while Mohit Ulva chipped in with three wickets for 37 runs. Raichandani's outstanding performance has put India in a strong position with two days left in the match.

Looking ahead, India will aim to capitalize on their substantial lead and secure a victory in this Youth Test. With Raichandani in such fine form and a solid bowling lineup, the team is well-positioned to dominate the remaining days of the match against Australia.
