Over 400 Players Including Babar Azam Set for ILT20 Auction

The International League T20 (ILT20) is gearing up for its fifth season, with the Player Auction scheduled for October 1 at the ICC Academy Indoors in Dubai. This year, over 400 players have registered for the auction, including prominent names such as Babar Azam, Phil Salt, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. The anticipation builds as teams prepare to strengthen their rosters ahead of the tournament.

This season's auction features a diverse pool of talent, with 200 players representing 23 countries. Among them, 17 players hail from Pakistan, including notable cricketers like Fakhar Zaman and Naseem Shah. The inclusion of players from various cricketing nations highlights the global appeal of the ILT20, which will take place in the UAE from November 22 to December 20.

Players have been categorized into different price brackets, with base prices set at USD 80,000, 40,000, and 10,000. The top tier includes stars like Babar Azam, David Willey, and Moeen Ali, who are expected to attract significant bids. Each franchise will enter the auction with a budget of USD 1.3 million, supplemented by any remaining funds from a previous allocation for pre-auction signings.

The financial stakes are high, with MI Emirates leading the way with the largest budget of USD 1,390,000, followed closely by Abu Dhabi Knight Riders at USD 1,365,000. Teams must adhere to specific player composition rules, ensuring a mix of local and international talent, including a minimum of 11 players from ICC Full Member countries.

As the auction date approaches, franchises are strategizing on how to maximize their budgets and build competitive teams. The ILT20 promises to deliver exciting cricket action, and the auction will be a pivotal moment in shaping the teams for the upcoming season.
