The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has officially unveiled the price band for its Initial Public Offering (IPO), aiming to raise over ₹22,000 crore. The shares will be offered within a range of ₹1,700 to ₹1,785 each. This IPO is poised to be one of the largest in India's financial history, attracting significant attention from investors and market analysts alike.
In this IPO, several prominent institutions are designated as selling shareholders, including the State Bank of India (SBI), Bank of Baroda, and others. SBI, the largest lender in India, is expected to sell approximately 1.6 crore shares. If fully subscribed at the upper price of ₹1,785, SBI stands to gain around ₹2,856 crore, given that its average acquisition cost for these shares was merely ₹0.8.
Other notable stakeholders include the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, which plans to sell about 1.2 crore shares, potentially earning ₹2,142 crore despite a higher acquisition cost of ₹324.13 per share. Ananda Investments and MS Strategic are also looking to sell 1.1 crore shares each, with expected earnings of ₹1,965.5 crore at the upper price band. Their acquisition costs were significantly lower, at ₹62.38 and ₹66.54, respectively.
The IPO's implications extend beyond the immediate financial gains for these institutions. For the broader market, this offering signifies a renewed confidence in India's economic recovery and the potential for increased foreign investment. The substantial profits anticipated by these stakeholders could lead to greater market stability and investor interest in future IPOs.
Looking ahead, the IPO is expected to attract considerable participation from both retail and institutional investors. The final subscription details and market reactions will be closely monitored as the offering date approaches, with the potential for significant impacts on the stock market landscape in India.
