Louis Moinet has introduced the Moon Meteor, a limited edition watch that showcases fragments from Mars and the Moon. Only 12 pieces are being produced, making it an exclusive item for collectors. The Moon Meteor is inspired by Louis Moinet's historical work in horology, particularly his 1816 invention designed for astronomical observations. The modern interpretation takes this scientific fascination and turns it into a wearable piece of art. Unlike typical moonphase watches that feature simple designs, the Moon Meteor is a vibrant representation of the cosmos, complete with an astronaut figure that tracks the lunar cycle.
The watch's dial is a meticulously hand-painted depiction of a nebula, created under a microscope. It features three meteorite fragments: a Martian rock, a carbon-rich meteorite, and an enstatite specimen containing microscopic diamonds. The case is crafted from grade 5 titanium, measuring 40.7mm in diameter and 17.92mm in height, ensuring durability while maintaining a lightweight feel. The automatic movement provides a 48-hour power reserve, operating at a frequency of 4Hz.
